In addition to the optional high output 4 cylinder engine and close-ratio transaxle already on the books for 1982 versions of Ford’s two-seater EXP, there was an outside chance that negotiations between the factory and an aftermarket convertible conversion company would be concluded in time to add a ragtop version to the option list. Because the EXP was a 3-door hatchback to start with, the original windshield header was to be retained, but it’s likely that the whole rear end of a convertible version would have to be replaced with new sheet metal welded up into a solid rear deck with access from the front only.
I have one too, 1982 EXP, black with red interior.
