31981 Pontiac Safari Wagon Promo
Safari was Pontiac’s designation for Station Wagon in 1981. Offering two mid-size and two full-size Safari’s. Resized in 1977 the ‘large’ wagon, ditched its Glide-Away tailgate often referred to as the clamshell design, for a more conventional unit that opened two ways, like a door, or lowered like a pickups gate. The smaller LeMans, and Grand LeMans possessed a simpler two piece swing up glass and sheet metal type. The station wagon was an eventual dying breed, as many buyers found comfort in minivans. But Pontiac kept its low selling wagon line all the way through the 1989 model lineup, until the division finally received its first minivan, the Trans Sport for the 1990 model year.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen a worksite like that one! LOL!!
PRE MINIVAN CALL PONTIAC TRANSSPORT CAME OUT IN THE EARLY 90S ERA AWESOME 😀
Those late 70’s early 80’s full-size stations wagons were impressive vehicles. So sick of the modern-day SUV/minivan thingamajiggies. BRING BACK THE STATION WAGONS, ALREADY!
