1982 Chevrolet Chevette Diesel Test Drive
The juggernaut division of General Motors would have its broadest product line to dayt for 1982, starting with the venerable Chevette, with 1.6-liter gasoline and 1.8-liter diesel engines in 3- and 5-door hatchback bodies. The Isuzu 5-speed manual transmission was added to the option list for the gasoline engine as well. The Chevette rolled on 35-psi tires, adn automatic versions got lockup converters. All had slightly changed appearance with wraparound tail lights, and the Scooter version had black bumpers. Diesel availability expanded to 49 states for the 1982 model year.
