1982 Fiat X1/9 Test Drive
Part of the X1/9 thrill lied in the very conception of the tiny Fiat, it was just econo car componentry, brought together in a racy fashion that made you wonder why more companies didn’t do it. Another part of the fun was the car’s overall road manners, its response, balance, and maneuverability were endlessly entertaining. Much of the delight came from knowing how much money you weren’t spending this recreation, a starting price under $11,000 and 30 plus MPG fuel efficiency let the X1/9 fit into a family budget like few enthusiast cars could. It all added up to an ingenious little toy that also happened to work well as plain transportation.
