The personal luxury segment Thunderbird continued for 1982 in base, Town Landau and Heritage trim levels. The 3.3-liter inline six and lockup automatic were standard issue, with the 3.8 V-6 automatic overdrive combination and 4.2-liter V-8 automatic overdrive combination optional. A larger 21-gallon fuel tank was Thunderbird standard equipment for a 15 percent range increase, and appearance changes included more blackout trim on all lines. A new option for 1982 was a Tripminder 8-function onboard computer/clock console in the dash, readable in either English or Metric units, with 7-button actuation and 2-line readout. Fancy.
