11982 Pontiac Grand Prix Promo
Nothing brings out automotive discussions like a round of croquet. The Grand Prix was for somebody who wanted to feel special, but not unique, like owners of competing automobiles. For those who don’t want to be treated as royalty, or appear sophisticated, the Grand Prix was directly countered to its own GM G-body stable mates in an era when the Goliath manufacturer marketed itself against itself. When it was each division for themselves. Even when the cars being compared were possibly built on the same assembly facility, the GP was the ‘tough’, built-to-last choice. Pontiac’s paper advertising however did not coincide with the video, calling the 1982 Grand Prix Elegant, and Sophisticated, the Beau Brummell of Pontiac’s. One thing is for sure, like the magazine ad, with this video, you are in for a treat!
