31982 Pontiac Phoenix Promo
The second of three front-drivers for the Pontiac line in the 1982 model year was the Phoenix X-car series in 2-door sedan and 5-door hatchback body styles in base and SJ trim levels. The 151cid Pontiac built Iron Duke 4-cylinder was updated with throttle body fuel injection (TBI) and used tubular exhaust headers and a hall effect transistor ignition system with new low viscosity oils to increase performance and decrease parasitic losses in the engine. All the cars received a minor facelift restyling and some new optional equipment, including the 2.8 liter V6 engine and lockup converter equipped automatic trans-axles.
“A stately hood ornament.” Heh.
The sedan is attractive. I can’t say the same for the hatchback.
