The big news for 1983 was the availability of GM’s 6.2 Liter Diesel V8, previously offered in the pickup trucks. Also following the truck line was the stacked headlights styling cue, which became a Chevrolet signature styling element for decades.. From this model year on, tilt steering was available with a manual transmission because the steering column was retilted to be similar to the C/K trucks and all manual transmission levers are now on the floor.
