The big news from Mitsubishi was the introduction of the first models to be marketed here under its own corporate badge. The new Tredia 4-door sedan, a mechanical clone of the Cordia sport coupe, could be ordered with either the standard 4-speed manual, a 4×2 twin stick, or 3-speed automatic linked to its 82-horsepower, 1.8-liter OHC four. With 0-60-mph capabilities in the 12.5-second range, a roomy, well-appointed interior, and three different trim levels, the Tredia definitely made its presence felt in the class.
