41983 Pontiac 1000 Dealership Training Video
Pontiac brought its Canadian Chevy Chevette-clonedown to the US as the 1981 T1000. For 1983 it was just the 1000-and a steadily declining seller: just under 26,000, split between the two-door hatchback an its four-door companion. The three-door (L08) 94.3″ wheelbase, with its 98cid 70hp four cylinder started at $6146, while the four-door (L68) 97.3″ wheelbase cost $203 more! The EPA rated the diesel manual at 27mpg city, and 42 highway!
I suppose it was too much trouble to drop a V6 into one. Shame, it’s not a bad-looking little car. I remember when these were everywhere.
Wasn’t the 2.8 put on one? Why does that sound right?
Nah, the 2.8 didn’t make it into their economy car until the Sunbird I think. Chevette and 1000 were always 4-cylinder.
Room for groceries…and such 😀
