The Conquest that both Dodge and Plymouth dealers sold, were captive imports from Mitsubishi that was first known to us as the Starion. It had a 145 hp 2.6 liter 4-cylinder engine, all the good suspension pieces and a long, long list of standard luxury features. As the Starion, the car was available in three versions, LS, LE and ES. The ES had a standard rear brake anti-lock control system. It also had go-gettum graphics to set it apart from the others. Dodge/Plymouth offered only one version of the Conquest. Which ever showroom you chose, you drove away with one of the slipperiest and quickest sports GT’s of 1984.
