01984 Pontiac Firebird Manufacturer Promo
The Firebird’s appearance was unchanged from 1983. The Trans Am received a performance boost with a high output four barrel version of the 5.0 V8. That power plant first offered as an option late in the 1983 model year, replaced the former crossfire fuel injected V8. It was rated at 190hp at 4800 rpm’s and produced 240 lbs ft of torque. 1984’s Trans Am came with a standard five speed manual gearbox and 3.73:1 axle ratio. It was capable of delivering 0-60MPH times in the 7.2 second neighborhood and 1/4 mile in the low 15s. Four cylinder engines in the base Firebird also got a boost with a swirl port combustion chamber, and cooler spark plugs. The SE features included a color coordinated leather wrapped steering wheel, shift lever, and parking brake handle. Trans Am buyers could also get an optional aero package in 15 color combinations. It included new front and rear fascias, a bigger air dam, door and rocker panel extensions, and wide lower body graphics. Also available was a recaro package with gold strobe graphics and gold deep dish turbo wheels.
