1985 Audi 4000S & Quattro Test Drive

The Audi 4000 line was significantly restyled for 1985, along the aero lines popularized by the big 5000S. The neatest 4000 was the Quattro, a four-door sedan with the five-cylinder engine from the 5000S, plus full-time four wheel drive.  For less than $17,000, it was a bargain in the sports sedan market.

Meanwhile, the regular 4000 and Coupe GT were given a new five-speed gearbox and updated interior that was friendlier than the 1984’s taxicab treatment.
