Both the Caprice/Impala car lines were virtually unchanged for 1985. The only notable mechanical variation was the elimination of the current 3.8 V6 engine. The new base powerplant was the 155HP injected 4.3 Liter V6.
Chevy’s mid-size Celebrity returned for 1985 with an optional 2.8 liter v6 switched from carburetor to port fuel injection. Also back was the Eurosport option package, offering firm suspension, blackout trim, and other goodies, all for $199. The V6 sold separately for an extra $250.
After topping Detroit’s 1984 sales chart, Chevy’s 101.2 inch wheelbase Cavalier offered a zesty new Z24 option for 1985. It ran with Chevrolet’s new 125-hp V6, the same as in the ‘fasthatch’ coupe. The powerful engine proved a popular option on Chevy J cars equipped with the sports package. Available on Type10 and convertible models, the Z24 option also featured 14 inch alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT tires.
