The 1985 Chrysler LeBaron GTS (Grand Touring Sport) was Chrysler’s answer to state-of-the-art mid-size front-drive sedans like the Honda Accord and Mazda 626. In optional turbocharged form, its closest domestic competitor was the Pontiac 6000 STE. Code named H-body and offered as a 5-door hatchback only, it replaced the Chrysler E-Class, which was really a stretched K-body LeBaron. Though it sat on the late E-Class’ 103-inch wheelbase and offered the same impressive interior room, that was where the resemblance ended.
This roomy, faintly “Euro-style” four door hatch started at $9024; 60783 were built.
