1985 we saw the resurrection of the Grand Am nameplate, which first appeared in 1972. This time the Grand Am bade adorned Pontiac’s iteration of the corporation’s N-car. The Grand Am would prove to be the most consistently popular GM front drive N-boy compact. Like the others it bowed for 1985 in base and uplevel coupe models, but offered extra sportiness via the proper options.
For 1985, Pontiac’s Grand Am replaced the Phoenix, which at that time was an X-body compact.
