1986 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Test Drive

Chevrolet reintroduced the Corvette convertible in 1986, symbolizing a growing renaissance in Detroit style and performance. Chevrolet supplied the Indy 500 with the pace car. The company said all Corvette ragtops should be considered Pace Car Replicas. The actual Pace Cars were bright yellow with black Indy 500 decals. All of the cars had the same 5.7 liter Tuned Port Injected V8 with aluminum heads, a four speed overdrive automatic transmission, Gatorback tires on 9.5 inch cast alloy wheels and Bosch anti-lock brakes. Only 7315 replicas were offered for sale. Base price was $32,032.
