01987 Ford Escort and EXP Manufacturer Promo
With no real changes for 1987, Ford’s world car had almost reached the end of its run. Great sales, tremendous popularity and sincere product planners made it successful in the mundane world. The EXP was restyled in 1986 and was given Escort’s HO engine. The two-seater’s sales improved in this marketing niche, but, alas, the sporty-‘looking’ EXP was heavier and less adept than its sister. The sibling cars featured a 1.9-liter, multiple-port fuel injected, high-output engine designed for performance and economy. New for 1987 on both models were 15-inch wheels and P195/60HR15 performance tires. Standard power steering, a unique handling suspension, front-wheel drive and five-speed manual transmission all combined to make Escort GT and EXP the right performance cars for economy minded drivers.
