Ford got into the burgeoning mini-car market about the middle of the 1987 model year with the Fesiva, a Mazda-designed and engineered puddle jumper built in Korea by KIA, one of Korea’s top three automakers. Although the Festiva brought the earlier Fiesta to mind, it was clearly a product of 1980s-thinking with its short, sloping nose, rounded body lines and high green-house. Inside, there was a surprising amount of room for four grown ups and an equally surprising number of standard features, including full carpeting, AM radio and a split fold down rear seat.
