1987 Ford T-Bird Turbo Test Drive
The regular T-bird was unchanged, but the Turbo Coupe was significantly revised to provide a road car with leading edge technology. It had many new SVO performance goodies including an intercooler and more efficient IHI turbo. Other features included automatic ride control, ABS brakes, a limited-slip differential, 16-inch VR60 tires, an octane switch and dual exhausts. The $13,028 model boasted 190hp: it had functional hood ducts and Turbo Coupe fender badges. It was picked as the Motor Trend “car of the year” for 1987.
