1987 Lincoln Town Car Promo

Available in standard, Signature and uplevel Cartier, Lincoln achieved a unique degree of luxury (even compared to Cadillac) which allowed it to hold on to a dedicated customer base. Its enormous size and square lines, its classic conception with a large V8 and outdated solid rear axle had their time and sales soon began to decline. The conservative American car has had a long life. However, with the arrival of new style consumers and foreign competition the town car will soon only be a nostalgic memory.

This video was quite nice. I really enjoyed the video. What is so sad is what was said about Lincoln back then compared to the Lincoln brand which is struggling now. The references to Cadillac were interesting as well.

I loved this video. I had a 1989 Town Car and loved it. I really liked the assembly line footage. That is a rare thing to see! So was the CD player. You never see it in this generation because it was so new.

Agreed, CD players were brand new, and very expensive at the time! Personally I was surprised to fine that Lincoln offered them in 1987!

AWESOME CAR 1987 LINCOLN TOWN CAR 😀

  4. Marco Wade says:

The Lincoln Town Cars from 86-97 are the Pinnacle of the Town Car brand and ensured Lincoln kept it’s image as an upscale luxury car intact through the 80’s and 90’s. The initial reaction to the 98’s was generally positive but the interior was cheapened up and made to look too much like a Grand Marquis. The styling of the 98’s hade gone stale by 2005 and Lincoln failed to update the car. The Taxi industry also helped kill the Image of the Lincoln brand.
