The Celica range now carried the 2.0-liter 115-bhp 3S-FE engine as standard (the 124-bhp 3S-GE was still offered on the GT-S), making the ST and GT models considerably quicker than 1986’s 97-bhp SOHC 2-valve units. Toyota also revived the Celica GT convertible with electric top and window lifts and a fold down rear seat.
