31988 Chevrolet Beretta GTU Test Drive
Having owned a Beretta during high school in the early 90s, i admittedly have a soft spot for this compact coupe. Mine however not a sporty model by any sorts, albeit with the 2.8 proved punchy, burbly and relatively powerful when compared to my Friends Civics, and Corollas. I remember gazing at the GTU with envy when I would, rarely see them, knowing all well it was only an appearance package, but still yearning. The Beretta went through numerous top sporty model renditions, from GT, GTU, GTZ, and finally Z26, when the overall model died in 1996. Mine, however died much earlier in 1993, suffering from a head on impact with a ‘concealed headlamp’ generation Honda Accord!
I LIKE 1990-93 CHEVROLET BERETTA GTZ TURBO I-4 WITH 180 HP AND 160 LB-FT OF TORQUE VERY FAST MODERN MUSCLE CAR 0-60 MPH: 7.5 SEC FROM MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE
Non turbo quad 4! Loud and rough!
I used to have an 88 Beretta GT, I really loved that car, and I loved the digital dash. The car had 240k miles when I finally sold it, still running great, original engine.
