1988: Driving the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile a Job to Relish!
Imagine the scene back in 1936 when Carl Mayer came into his Uncle Oscar’s office with a new advertising idea. Carl had a vision of a 13-foot long hot dog car that would travel the streets of Chicago and let everyone know about Oscar Mayer’s hot dogs.
It must have taken some explaining to describe his dream of the rolling frank. Luckily, Uncle Oscar was a man with a vision and gave the thumbs up. Every version of the Wienermobile since has brought smiles and fun wherever it goes. From dodging Duesenbergs in the 1930s to hotdogging on highways in the 1990s, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is truly a piece of Americana.
