01988 Isuzu Trooper II Test Drive
The Trooper was first shown at the Geneva Auto Salon in 1985 under the name bighorn Rodeo.
The Trooper sold in the US in both 2-door, and 4-door versions, while in Canada it sold only as a 4-door. In terms of height, it was comparable to the Toyota Land Cruise, although its wheelbase was similar to that of the Jeep Cherokee. Its robust chassis was carried on an independent front end and it had a solid axle with leaf springs at the rear. To finish levels were offered: DLX and LS, the latter was more fully equipped. A realistic price helped to offset some of the Troopers shortcomings, but a 6-cylinder engine and better steering should have been a priority for this vehicle.
