1989: 150-mph MR2?
The news bubbling out of Toyota City in 1989 was the MK2 MR2. Compared to the fist Mister Two, it would grow in girth, weight, and price at its debut, Tokyo June 1989. But sports-car purists needed not despair. Despite the car’s extra ten-inches of length, the drag coefficient would drop, and the top speed would rise. The two-seater would again have a twin-cam, sixteen valve, four cylinder, although the new top-pot would be turbocharged and initially rumored to be above the 220bhp mark.
