1989: A GM coupe to rival Japanese?
Thought to be under consideration for th European and US markets, GM was planning a handsome new sport coupe to rival the best from Germany and Japan. Based on the Opel Vectra, this car was born out of the necessity to replace the Opel Manta, a good value for the money performance car in its time but was sorrowfully aged.

They built it. It was the Opel Calibra….also marketed as Vauxhall and Holden Calibra …in production until 1997 and well liked in its day…
and the calibra was beautiful!
