01989 Dodge Dakota Manufacturer Promo
The Dakota, which was in a niche between the conventional Ram and Ram 50 pickups imported from Japan, was built on two different wheelbases with short or long box, 2, or 4-wheel drive, and in base, S and Sport versions. It benefited from the fact that the chassis, exhaust system and numerous panels were made of galvanized steel. Base engine was the 4-cylinder 2.5-liter with a 3.9-liter V6 as an option. The 4×4 had independent front suspension and 1989 saw a new Shelvy high performance version, with a fuel injected 5.2-liter V8 and a rather unconventional convertible version.
