31989 Jeep Concept 1
For nearly five decades Jeep has been at the forefront at four-wheel-drive technology and innovation. So it should come as no surprise that planning and development of rugged 4X4 Jeep vehicles to meet the needs of the 90s and beyond has been underway for some time.
The Jeep Concept 1 is an example of this advanced thinking. Built on a Cherokee underbody, the Jeep Concept 1 is longer and higher to provide increased interior room. The result is more comfort and more cargo room. The Jeep Concept 1 also features a longer wheelbase and a wider stance to help provide sure footed movement over rocks and other rough terrain.
The Jeep Concept 1 retains Cherokees go anywhere image while taking on a bold new modernistic appearance. A flush, clean front end design gives this rugged sport utility the powerful, aggressive look that a vehicle of its capabilities deserves. A steeper raked windshield and flush side glass also contribute to the bold look of the Jeep Concept 1 while helping to eliminate wind noise. With just one look you realize that this is one tough performer.
Innovations such as unique 17″ cast aluminum wheels that carry custom designed P295/55R17 Goodyear all terrain tires mean the Jeep Concept 1 just has to be better. And it is. Designed to pick its way nimby over obstacles and through mud, sand, or snow, the lower body of the Jeep Concept 1 is shielded from flying debris, by a band of protective cladding that encircles the entire vehicle. Like so many of Jeeps other advanced engineering and design features, this cladding leaves the Jeep Concept 1 free to be itself, a rugged, versatile 4X4 of the future destined to take the challenges of tomorrow.
