01989 Porsche 959 Preview
One of the most advanced cars of the 1980s was the limited production Porsche 959. It bore a family resemblance to the 911, but was much more sophisticated in almost every way. The twin-turbocharged 2850cc engine gave 450bhp, while transmission was by a six speed gearbox and variable distribution four wheel drive. The second turbocharger only came into action after heavy use of the accelerator. Other features included electronically controlled variable damper settings, ABS brakes and power steering.
