11989 Suzuki Swift GTi Test Drive
Suzuki became the umpteenth Japanese car company to enter the US passenger car market. Its first shot was this little 3-door hatchback, with a 5-door that soon followed. Unlike its twin, Chevrolet’s GEO Metro, this little hummer was powered by a 1.3 liter 16-valve, 100 horsepower, DOHC 4-cylinder engine. IT packed an impressive power to weight ration, and Suzuki claimed it would do 0-60 in 8.2 seconds. A pocket rocket to be sure.
