1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais International Series Test Drive

Oldsmobile again wooed import buyers in 1990 with the sporty International Series Cutlass Calais model. New for 1989, offered only with a 5-speed manual, the HO 180-bhp engine moved the light Calais along smartly. By the way, those 30 extra horses were rounded up using higher-flow injectors, a new cylinder head with larger intake and exhaust valves, more radical camshafts, less restrictive exhaust passages and a small bump in compression ration from 9.5 to 10.0. Olds engineers claimed the car was capable of 0-60 blasts in 7.5 seconds.
Also noted was a reborn 4-4-2 (Quad-4 engine, four valves per cylinder, two overhead camshafts), a $1680 option package for the S two-door.
