The Firebird, Pontiac’s answer to Fords Mustang, via the Camaro in 1969, lasted one year in its initial body style. Skip ahead to its third and final generation, the F-body like most cars, performance oriented or not saw a drastic reduction in its fulfilment of that classification. But like everything, evolving to keep up with times and tech is what it did. Introduced in 1987 GTA was Firebirds top trim (save for 1989’s one year only famed turbo bird), and like all in the Firebird stable for 1991 received a face lift to combat its 8 years without major cosmetic upgrades.
