In 1991, Ford’s Mustang was in the throes of a $500 cosmetic make-over. The most potent Mustang was rumored to change its name from GT to SVO, and would be powered by Ford’s new modular DOHC 4.6-liter V8. Also rumored was the output of 300-hp in the highest performance model, while the LX would receive a 210-hp SOHC version of the same V8. Although the skin would be new, the Mustang would still ride atop a revised version of the Fox platform.
