There was no doubt that in 1991, Cadillac execs were serious about bringing their buyers more power. because the DeVille was treated to a bigger displacement 200-horsepower version of Cadillac’s transversely deployed aluminum alloy V8. The latest bump up to 4.9 liters from 4.5 brought with it 20 additional horsepower and 30 more torques. Also new was the availability of Computer Command Ride, a hands-off damping system that used several different inputs to determine which of three shock absorber rates was appropriate for the current driving condition. This resulted in a pillow soft around town ride and significantly more control at higher speeds and in hard cornering.
