Product planners and marketers said that the popularity of the F-series was a case of fierce brand loyalty (69 percent were repeat buyers) compounded by peer pressure. There was more to it than that, though. An F-serie truck is ready for a variety of chores. To a contractor it’s the key to the job, his daily bread. To outdoors people it’s a great way to get to an upland stream, pull a camper to the woods or experience the silent explosion of a grand mountain vista. To suburbanites it’s a practical way to haul anything from a load of firewood to furniture.
The XLT Lariat was the premium F-series truck, but less expensive versions were available in XL and Custom trim. In any case the F-series stable was apt to satisfy virtually every personal or commercial need with the F-150, F-250 and F-350 lineup, as well as the F-Super Duty chassis GS. Accordingly, all these trucks were available with 4×4 drivelines and eight foot cargo beds.
