nah, i think the automakers are overly complicating their models when it comes to fuel economy and hybrids. These older cars are amazing when it comes to fuel economy and performance, new ones got more electronics and weight to them. Peppy engines and lightweight bodywork plus a stereo equal fun and economy, but the auto market does change over time, as consumers have become more demanding lately with nav systems, bluetooth and such things. It’s not really the automaker’s fault, they just cater to the market.
I believe vehicle weight is at it’s peak, more advanced materials are coming down in price and are going to make cars lighter and stronger in the future
