Audi was hoping for loud cheers when they showed off the successor to the Audi V8, so they could show off a coupe derivative as early as 1996.
The two-door Audi flagship would boast a sleek roof and mildly modified front and rear ends. Although it was not yet clear whether the new model would be named or numbered, insiders claimed that the V6 version were to be badged Audi 300, and the V8 powered models the 400, or it could have been named Silberpfeil (silver arrow).
