1993 Lexus GS300 Commercial
In our day and age, the standards of quality and equipment cars are such that it requires character for the enthusiasts of deluxe models to make up their minds and select one of them. To its own recipe for high quality, Lexus added the stroke of the Guigiaro pen, but was it enough? It was introduced at the Tokyo Salon in 1991 under the name of Mephisto, as a possible replacement for the Cressida. It finally reappeared a the end of 1992 under the Lexus label as the GS300, between the ES and the LS. Its emblem signifies a grand touring sedan of 3.0L. That’s it for the label, now for the form. The GS300 was a three box sedan whose design came from the celebrated Turin styling office of Ital Design under the wing of the irresistible Giorgio Giugiaro. This was the first time that a car produced by Toyota had not been designed in-house. The assignment was done in the form of a contest. The GS300 was a remarkable car from more than one point of view, but its performance and its character did not match the asking price, around $37,500.
