The replacement for the Mark VII arrived in the fall of 1992, and it was special. The engine was a 4.6-liter DOHC 32-valve all-aluminum V-8 that was cousins with the SOHC V8 used in other contemporary Ford Sedans.; it sat in front and drove the rear wheels. The chassis was suspended fully independently with upper and lower control arms front and rear, similar to the Thunderbird. The styling was gorgeous. This exciting new luxury coupe would be capable of going toe to toe with anything on the road.
