Providing another choice in affordable small family sedans, Subaru’s Impreza debuted in mid-year 1993. Though originally intended to replace the Loyale model line, Impreza cohabitated with its low-priced sibling. Available in sedan and Sport-Wagon body styles (the coupe version came later) the handsome daily-use vehicle was designed to appeal to shoppers of Honda Civics adn Toyota Corollas. Dual airbags and antilock brakes were standard. The Impreza was offered in front- or all-wheel-drive, though the 1.8-liter flat four let you know that performance took a backseat to fuel economy.
