The only car in the Suzuki lineup, Swift was available in two-door hatchback and four-door sedan. Its competition included Toyota Tercel, Hyundai Excel, and Ford Escort. The base GA and uplevel GS versions delivered solid value and an EPA highway estimate of 43 mpg. Sport minded commuters would cheek out the GT model, which packed a full 100-horsepower version of the 1.3-liter engine plus four-wheel discs and a great suspension. An airbag was not available.
