1993: Was Honda Preparing a Mid-Engine Sporty Coupe?
Sources on both sides of the Pacific indicated Honda was close to introducing a new and more affordable mid-engine GT coupe. Carrying on the tradition of the NSX, but with a good deal less exotic aluminum componentry, and a far more palatable price tag, the swoopy little two seater was expected to bow in with a 1.6-liter VTEC four that developed around 170 horsepower. A more potent 2.0-liter engine was also likely in the plans. While Honda refused to confirm anything at all about the car, there was growing speculation this scaled down road rocket would make its first public appearance at the Tokyo motor show. If all would have went well, it probably would have come here badged as an Acura.
