01994 BMW 850CSi Test Drive
Two new models joined the sleek luxo-coupe’s roster for 1994. By integrating the 4.0-liter V-8, BMW created the 840Ci with a five-speed manual and 282-horsepower, at a lower price tag, to boot. The 850 Ci continued with the delectable 296-horsepower 5.0-liter V-12, but was no longer offered with the six-speed gearbox. So you weren’t too disappointed, BMW cooked up a hot-rodded 850CSi model with a hogged-out V-12 (5.6-liters) and a license revoking 372 horsepower. It was only available with the six-speed manual, 17-inch wheels/tires, and lowered sport suspension, and would be a limited production model.
