1994 Honda Accord Coupe Test Drive

A cautious evolution.
It is never easy to remake what has already been well made several times. You are always pulled by the idea to try something new. When redesigning the 1994 Accord, Honda preferred to stay cautious and follow the conservative recommendation of its customers, rather than risk innovation. In troubled times (industry not Honda), it’s better to play it safe, than to go into an adventure that could jeopardize the equilibrium of one of the smaller Japanese automakers. At first glance, this Accord seemed very similar to the previous model. On closer examination, you can see elaborate work was undertaken. What is remarkable, is this car was so similar, yet so different.

2013 is finally seeing a car that I can say IS a Honda Accord again. They’ve brought back some of the styling from previous models like this one and MAN it’s made a difference. The new Accord can see 60 in as little as 5.6 seconds now. DANG!

This 1994 Honda Accord EX coupe was my first brand new car. I knew immediately that it was special. The manual shifted like butter, the interior layout ergonomics were first-rate, it could be driven like a sports car (to a limited extent with its semi-soft suspension and FWD layout), and it felt rock solid.

Honda has never duplicated the perfect simplicity of the cockpit, and the 94-95 EX alloy rims are the most handsome Honda ever put on a car. I could go on; in fact, I have.
