1994 Mercury Capri XR2 Test Drive
Did you ever look at a Mazda MX5 Miata but decide you really needed a convertible with a back seat? The Mercury Capri may have been what you were looking for. Though its rear compartment was tiny, there was room for 2+2 seating. The interior also delivered new contoured front seats and dual airbags. Outside the nimble ragtop got restyled front and rear treatments, new seven-spoke alloy wheels, adn revised graphics. There was also now a sport suspension system on the uplevel XR2 model. Built in Australia, the Capri was powered by a Mazda sourced 1.6-liter DOHC four, with an available turbocharger.
