1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula Convertible Test Drive
The convertible Firebird and 25th anniversary Trans Am didn’t arrive until mid-year so until then we enjoyed the new Trans Am GT. This top-line model was chock full of equipment and allowed the regular Trans Am to be reduced in price. The base Firebird and midline Formula remained on the lower end of the model range. The 3.4-liter V-6 was unchanged, but the 5.7-liter V-8 received sequential fuel injection for lower emissions. Go-fast addicts would want to order the six-speed manual with its new lower 3.42:1 ratio rear axle, though only the refied four speed electronic automatic could be paired with the also new traction control system.
