01995 Dodge Avenger Test Drive
Some cars are designed to suit just about everybody, and then there’s the car for nobody at all. The latter definition might well belong to the Dodge Avenger or its Siamese twin, the Chrysler Sebring – cars planned for no specific use and launched on the market without the builder really knowing if there was a customer base for this type of model. This car was so torn between two categories that it was even hard to find an equivalent or identify its competitors. By trying to make it strong in everything, could it be that it was of no interest to anyone? Unless Chrysler had invented a new niche and its a mater of coming up with the right idea to attract crowds of buyers, The Avenger was a result of a partnership called Diamond Star, uniting Chrysler and its Japanese ally Mitsubishi in the manufacture of models with a sporty feel. The Avenger used the same frame as the Eagle Talon, extended by some ten inches to provide functional rear seats and a trunk that’s big enough for the car to be considered a true four passenger model. In this regard the model was quite successful.
