01995 Dodge Neon Test Drive
A coupe version of the popular Neon sedan arrived to flesh out Chrysler’s entry-level model line. Both cars were designed as high-value, fun-to-drive, runabouts that belie their low prices. Slightly larger than its Ford Escort, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla competition, the Neon also delivered more performance. The base coupe and sedan engine was a Chrysler built 2.0-liter, 132-horsepower SOHC four, while the coupe alone was offered with a DOHC unit pumping out 150-horsepower. Dual airbags were standard, ABS was optional, and Dodge even offered prize money if you drove a Neon in SCCA Club Racing and won.
