America’s favorite sport/utility received the first major upgrade since its inception. The 1995 Ford Explorer retained the platform and drive-line basics of its forefathers, but met the world with a more aggressive face while pampering with improved comfort, safety, and ergonomics. Ford said only the doors carried over from the previous bodywork, but the overall appearance was one that was still recognizable as an Explorer. Inside there were dual airbags, plus a superb new interior with optional glove soft leather. Both two and four door models returned, and you could still choose from 4×2 or 4×4 grip.
